Suspect and driver in getaway vehicle make off with two saws worth over $2,800

paso-robles-police logo–Local business Alert-O-Lite, located at 1850 Ramada Drive in Paso Robles, was the victim of theft after two cut-off saws were stolen on Thursday, June 2 at about 4:45 p.m. by a male suspect and a female driver in what looked like a silver Chrysler Sebring convertible getaway car. The tools stolen were a 25 pound Stihl 800 saw worth about $1,500 and a Stihl 500 saw worth about $1,300. The crime has been reported to the Paso Robles Police Department who are investigating.

Store Manager Brad Hunsaker said the suspect had visited the store on Tuesday and his license plate had been recorded on surveillance camera. “He came back in on Thursday and acted like a contractor and stole the two saws, he was wearing a baseball hat and his front license plate was removed and his back license plate was half blacked out,” he said. “The suspect ran out with both heavy saws and jumped in the convertible. They were in the same car both days, they didn’t pay any attention to the video surveillance and the police are confident they will catch the guy. “

Hunsaker said the store had only been open in Paso Robles for about a year. “This is the first time I have had a theft happen with me in the store,” he said. “It was disappointing as he behaved like and nice guy, and one of the saws he took was set aside for a local contractor.”

Paso Robles Police Department Sergeant Todd Rehner said they are hopeful they will catch the suspect but had no leads as yet. At the time of going to press the official police report on the burglary was in progress, further details on the suspect will be provided when information is available.
