–The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from the public in locating a possible witness in the homicide investigation of 90-year-old Lawrence Bross.
On Jan. 24, the body of Bross was discovered inside his home in the 1400 block of Strand Way in Oceano.
Detectives are trying to locate a person described as a white male adult in his 30s to 40s, with a thin build, approximately 6′ 1″ tall, with bushy dark brown hair that is somewhat long. He was wearing a jacket, possibly letterman-style that contained the color green on it. He is thought to go by the name of Jimmy.
He is associated with an older model (more than 15 years old) 4-door sedan, possibly a Ford. It was dented and gray or dull silver in color. The car was possibly seen on Pier Avenue.
The person was seen with Bross on Tuesday, Jan. 22 and Detectives would like to speak with him.

An autopsy has been performed. The cause of death is pending the results of toxicology tests which typically take 6-8 weeks.

–The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from the public regarding the homicide investigation on Jan. 24 in the 1400 block of Strand Way in Oceano. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who had contact with victim Lawrence Bross during the last two weeks and has not already spoken with sheriff’s office personnel to contact the Sheriff’s Detective Division.
The sheriff’s office is also requesting that any residents in the Strand Way area who have video surveillance and have not already spoken with sheriff’s office personnel contact the Sheriff’s Detective Division at (805) 781-4500. Updated: Victim in suspicious death case identified
–The Coroner’s Unit of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has identified the body that was found inside a residence in the 1400 block of Strand Way in Oceano on Thursday.
The victim has been identified as 90-year-old Lawrence Albert Bross of Oceano.
An autopsy is currently underway to determine a cause of death. This is an on-going and active homicide investigation.
On Friday, members of the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team were at the Oceano location conducting an evidence search.

Suspicious death reported in Oceano
–On Thursday, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a check the welfare call at a home in the 1400 block of Strand Way in Oceano. When deputies arrived, they discovered the body of an adult male inside the home. Based on the circumstances surrounding this death, it appears to be a suspicious death.
Detectives have begun a full scale investigation and are in the process of collecting evidence and interviewing neighbors. Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no risk to the public at this time.
