John Patric Montgomery.
– San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow announced today that a San Luis Obispo County jury found John Patric Montgomery, 62, guilty of possession for sale of a controlled substance and trespassing.
During the trial, the jury heard evidence that on March 6, 2024, San Luis Obispo Police Officers responded to a report that Montgomery was trespassing on private property despite receiving two previous citations in a month for trespassing on the same property.
After Montgomery refused to leave, he was placed under arrest for trespassing. When police conducted a search, they found that he was in possession of 12 containers of methamphetamine, as well as methylsulfonylmethane, weighing 49.55 grams, four narcotics pipes, and $176 in cash.
Methylsulfonylmethane is used for coating containers holding methamphetamine to prevent the drug from sweating inside the container. It is also used as a cutting agent.
Montgomery is scheduled to be sentenced on July 10, in Department 9 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.
The case was investigated by the San Luis Obispo City Police Department and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Julie Antos.
